Ms Gabby Vigar
Gabby Vigar has been a cancer nurse for over 28 years, both in the inpatient and ambulatory care setting and in a variety of different roles. Gabby's main area of cancer nursing expertise is Radiation Oncology nursing. Her substantive role is Nurse Unit Manager of Radiation Oncology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, a position which she has held for over 11 years. Currently Gabby is the Acting Nurse Lead for the Cancer Program at Central Adelaide Local Health Network. Gabby has been doing this role for 10 months.
Gabby very much enjoys the opportunity to influence cancer nurses and cancer nursing, and has a very strong interest and passion for leadership and empowering cancer nurses to work at full scope of practice.
Gabby has also worked in a number of state wide cancer nursing and project roles, which included federally funded cancer projects looking at cancer nursing workforce issues. Gabby is currently a steering committee member of the South Australian Cancer Clinical Network (SCCN) and as part of this role, she chairs the newly established Cancer Nursing Collaborative, bringing together highly skilled and experienced cancer nurses from across South Australia to look at cancer nursing issues.
Gabby has a Graduate Diploma in Oncology Nursing and a Master of Nursing Science (Oncology Nursing). She is the Chair of the CNSA South Australian State Group (SA SG), which she has been doing for the past 5 years and is a current Board Director with the portfolio of Networking.
