Mr Alan Scanlon
Alan Scanlon is a Registered Nurse working in Digital Health and Informatics at Metro South Health. Alan worked in various clinical wards before completing a Master of Commerce at the University of Queensland in 2009. While completing this degree Alan commenced work in the Patient Flow department at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He participated in a wide variety of process improvement projects and obtained Six Sigma Green belt and Lean Thinking Certification. Involvement in these projects and courses exposed the potential of using information collected in clinical systems to improve patient outcomes and enable real time evidence-based decision support. Alan has co-authored papers on the ED – inpatient interface and is a member of Nursing Midwifery in Digital Health committee at AIDH. Alan is passionate about improving patient outcomes by providing front line nurses the information to make real time decisions and removing the burden or duplicate / unnecessary data entry.
